1. Suitable ambient temperature
The factor that affects battery life is the ambient temperature. The preferred ambient temperature required by battery manufacturers is between 20-25 °C. Although the increase in temperature increases the discharge capacity of the battery, the price paid is that the life of the battery is greatly shortened. According to the test, once the ambient temperature exceeds 25 ° C, the battery life will be shortened by half for every 10 ° C increase. Increasing the ambient temperature will result in an increase in the internal chemical activity of the battery, which will generate a large amount of heat energy, which in turn will cause the ambient temperature to rise. This vicious cycle will accelerate the shortening of the battery life.
2. Timing charge discharge
UPS is connected to the mains for a long time. In the environment where the power supply quality is high and there is little power outage, the battery will be in a floating state for a long time. Over time, the activity of mutual conversion of battery chemical energy and electric energy will be reduced, and the aging will be accelerated. And shorten the service life. Therefore, it should be completely discharged every 2-3 months, and the discharge time can be determined according to the capacity of the battery and the load. After a full load discharge is completed, recharge for more than 8 hours as specified.
3. Using communication functions
At present, most large and medium-sized UPSs have operability with computer communication and program control. Install the corresponding software on the microcomputer, connect the UPS through the serial/parallel port, run the program, and then use the microcomputer to communicate with the UPS. Generally have the functions of information inquiry, parameter setting, timing setting, automatic shutdown and alarm. Through information inquiry, information such as mains input voltage, UPS output voltage, load utilization rate, battery capacity utilization, internal temperature and mains frequency can be obtained; through parameter setting, basic characteristics of the UPS, battery maintenance time, and The battery runs out of alarms, etc.
4. Replace waste/bad battery in time
At present, the number of batteries for large and medium-sized UPS power supplies ranges from 3 to 80, or even more. These individual batteries form a battery pack through circuit connections to meet the needs of the UPS DC power supply. In the continuous operation and use of the UPS, due to the difference in performance and quality, it is inevitable that the performance of individual batteries will decrease and the storage capacity will not meet the requirements. When one or more of the batteries in the battery pack are damaged, the maintenance personnel should perform an inspection test on each battery to eliminate the damaged battery. When replacing a new battery, you should strive to purchase the same type of battery from the same manufacturer. It is forbidden to mix the acid-proof battery and the sealed battery and batteries of different specifications.
